Victor Ntsekhe is one of the Toyota 1000 Desert Race drivers that was held in Botswana from 22-24 June 2018. Upon sitting down with him, we found it very interesting that he did not just race cars but also had a very impressive track record with go-karts and motor cycle racing. We had to hear all about his exciting and adventurous life. This is what he had to say:

Who is Victor Ntsekhe?

Victor Ntsekhe is a 44 year businessman and family man who lives in JHB.

When did your love for racing begin?

My love for racing begun when I was a young Boy who followed the Legendary Roof of Africa Race, now known as the Toyota Desert 1000 which at the time was held in Gaborone, and also from watching the Formula 1.

Who inspired you to race?

Michael Schumacher.

Track or Off road?

The track was my first love as I started racing with Go-Karts.

What is your most memorable moment as a driver?

My most memorable moment was winning the South African Class P Championship in 2017 after missing it narrowly and coming 2nd in 2016.

How many races have you won?

I have won 19 Go-Kart races and 13 Off-Road races.

What routine do you follow in preparation for longer distances?

I run 10kms every day from 5am followed by an hour gym session before going to work. I also cycle for an hour before going to bed, then on weekends I ride motorbikes on different terrains for 3 to 4 hours.

When are we seeing you at the world tracks?

That is my goal within the next 24 months, pending sponsorship agreements.

Life will be worth it when?

I’ve competed and completed the Dakar Rally.
